Tension In Abuja: Lawmakers Drag NNPCL GCEO To Parliament Over 2021 Audit Scandal.

Published

on

According to Nivo News, the House of Representatives has summoned the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, to appear before lawmakers next Monday to present all outstanding documents linked to the 2021 audit queries issued by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The directive was issued on Monday by the Chairman of the House Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Hon. Bamidele Salam, during a session at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. He faulted NNPCL for what he described as a recurring refusal to honour the committee’s invitations or supply the required documentation despite repeated reminders.

Salam warned that the committee would no longer entertain what he termed an apparent disregard for legislative oversight responsibilities. During the proceedings, he read a letter from NNPCL explaining Ojulari’s absence and claiming that he was engaged in another critical official assignment at the Presidential Villa.

Committee members rejected the explanation, describing the company’s conduct as disrespectful to parliament and obstructive to the audit review process. However, following an appeal by the company’s National Assembly Liaison Officer, Hon. Umar Faruk, the committee agreed to grant NNPCL one final chance to comply.

Lawmakers fixed December 15, 2025, as the deadline for the oil company to submit all pending documents and appear before the panel. Salam stressed that the committee’s schedule was already packed and urged the company to take the matter seriously.

NNPCL is expected to address several concerns flagged by the Auditor-General, including alleged payments to contractors handling abandoned projects, failure to remit statutory taxes, and irregular payments reportedly made by the company’s Chief Finance Officer without the approval of the GCEO. The committee warned that any further attempt to hinder the audit process would result in firm parliamentary sanctions.

POLITICAL WARFARE: OK Movement Fires Back At Seriake Dickson, Swears Never To Surrender Party Structure!

Published

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement (OK Movement) has pushed back strongly against statements made by Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, clarifying that it will not surrender its political structure to the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The exchange follows Dickson’s remarks regarding the role of political support groups, where he argued that such groups should complement political parties rather than operate as rival structures. He also dismissed the OK Movement’s decision to establish a campaign council as “nonsensical.”

In a swift response, the Director-General of the OK Movement, John Ughulu, rejected the notion that the organization is an ordinary support group or an appendage of the NDC.

  • Independent Identity: Ughulu emphasized that the OK Movement is independently organized and managed, distinct from conventional political support groups.

  • Multi-Party Coalition: He explained that the movement brings together individuals from various political parties united behind the NDC presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

  • Structure Retention: The DG maintained that the movement will preserve its national, state, local government, and ward structures, stating that political cooperation does not mean organizational subordination.

  • Right to Mobilize: Ughulu defended the creation of the movement’s campaign council, noting that it violates no party provisions and is designed to boost mobilization without usurping party authority.

Concluding his statement, Ughulu stressed that while the group is committed to working with the NDC and its candidates, its internal administration and organizational framework remain strictly under its own management.
