The clip, shared on Monday via Philip’s account, showed the aircraft in motion as part of Nigeria’s rapid military intervention under the directives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Confirming the development, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) stated that its personnel were deployed as part of a regional security initiative and clarified that the operation was carried out strictly within ECOWAS-approved frameworks.
In a statement issued late Sunday, NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, stressed that the air operations followed ECOWAS instructions and were fully coordinated with both the regional body and authorities in Benin Republic.
He explained that the mission into Beninese airspace aligned with Nigeria’s obligation to safeguard constitutional rule across West Africa.
Ejodame added that the deployment reflects Nigeria’s commitment to preventing the breakdown of democratic structures within member nations while maintaining stability across the sub-region.
