President Tinubu’s order mandating the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP protection duties followed a high-level security meeting with service chiefs and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) on November 23 in Abuja. A statement earlier issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, clarified that VIPs requiring security would now receive armed protection from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) instead of the police.

Nwuche described Rivers as a political family, stressing that loyalty and collective effort are essential in showing gratitude to leaders. He commended Wike for successfully mobilizing Rivers residents to vote for Tinubu and Siminalayi Fubara during the 2023 general elections, though he expressed disappointment over Fubara’s subsequent performance. He noted that many stakeholders had supported Fubara based on Wike’s guidance rather than personal familiarity with the governor.
