‘We Won’t Move!’ Makinde Declares As PDP Crisis Explodes In Abuja.
According to Nivo News, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his commitment to defending democratic principles in Nigeria, insisting that he and his supporters are prepared to remain at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Headquarters in Abuja for as long as necessary.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Makinde, who addressed journalists after a heated confrontation between his group and loyalists of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, stated that their presence at the party office is driven by a determination to safeguard democracy rather than internal party politics.
The standoff erupted after both factions scheduled separate meetings at the same venue and time, triggering a clash that prompted security agents deployed to the scene to fire tear gas as tensions escalated.
Makinde stressed that the ongoing crisis within the PDP may deepen before stability is restored, but insisted that they are resolute in their mission.
He assured party supporters and Nigerians that the struggle goes beyond partisan interests, emphasizing that they are ready to endure any discomfort to ensure the preservation of democratic governance in the country.
“This is a message of genuine hope to our members nationwide and to Nigerians,” Makinde said. “This struggle isn’t just about the PDP; it’s about the future of democracy in Nigeria. Things may worsen before they improve, but we are standing on firm ground. If staying here for two weeks is what it takes to protect democracy in this country, then we are ready to remain here.”
