According to Nivo News, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has resigned from his position to pursue his governorship ambition under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Oyebamiji, who launched his political movement under the acronym AMBO, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on October 25, 2025. Oyebamiji’s resignation was confirmed by his movement’s spokesperson, Adebayo Adedeji, who praised President Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, for the opportunity to serve the nation. Adedeji highlighted Oyebamiji’s accomplishments during his two-year tenure, noting that he leveraged nearly 40 years of private and public sector experience to reposition NIWA for improved performance.

“Under his leadership, deaths and accidents on Nigeria’s inland waterways were reduced by more than 70 percent,” Adedeji said. “Safety awareness campaigns reached unprecedented levels, and staff welfare received notable attention and commendation.”

As he transitions to his political ambitions, Oyebamiji aims to provide quality leadership and service to the people of Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election. His vision focuses on steering Osun toward sustainable economic prosperity for current and future generations.
