Crisis Deepens In PDP As Wike’s Loyalists Dismantle Wabara’s Leadership
The internal turmoil rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated sharply on Friday as the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced the dissolution of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) led by former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the announcement was made during a meeting held at Wike’s Life Camp residence in Abuja, where the factional Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammad, also inaugurated a new BoT to replace the dissolved one.
Before the meeting went into a closed session, Muhammad explained that the decision was taken to restore constitutional order and moral integrity within the opposition party. He accused the Wabara-led board of losing its “moral balance” and alleged that Wabara’s suspension by the Abia State PDP for anti-party activities made his continued leadership “untenable.”
“The Board that was meant to serve as the moral compass of our party became divided and ineffective. Its credibility was called into question, making it impossible for it to continue playing an advisory role at the national level,” Muhammad stated.
He also took a swipe at the tenure of the suspended National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, accusing him of shielding individuals who violated the party’s constitution. Muhammad said Damagum’s preference for “convenience over the rule of law” undermined internal discipline and weakened the PDP’s structure.
“When any political party begins to disregard its own constitution, it loses the very soul that holds it together. That was the painful reality we faced,” he noted, commending members who sought judicial intervention to “save the PDP from itself.”
He added that the recent Federal High Court ruling paved the way for the reconstitution of the BoT, insisting that the judgment was not an attack on the PDP but “a reminder that no institution is above the law.”
Describing the newly formed board as a “symbol of rebirth,” Muhammad said its members were selected based on integrity, fairness, and commitment to party values rather than factional loyalty. “This is not a reward for loyalty; it is a sacred trust. Your voices must echo unity, your advice must be rooted in fairness, and your actions should inspire confidence in our collective future,” he declared.
Muhammad blamed the party’s decline on its abandonment of the zoning principle before the 2015 general elections, which, according to him, allowed personal ambitions to override fairness and equity.
He vowed that the party would henceforth uphold transparency, internal democracy, and judicial compliance as it seeks to rebuild public trust. “We will respect court judgments, conduct congresses with fairness, and restore the PDP as the moral voice of Nigeria’s democracy,” he affirmed.
Emphasizing that the era of impunity was over, Muhammad stated, “Internal affairs must still operate under constitutional order. Party autonomy cannot mean lawlessness. We must reform or risk irrelevance.”
He urged members to unite and seize the moment to revive the PDP, adding, “Let history record that when the PDP stood at the edge of the precipice, men and women of goodwill rose to pull it back. Together, we can heal our party and restore it as the true hope of Nigeria’s democratic future.”

Context of the Attack: MACBAN reported that Risku was killed shortly after attending a security meeting requested by Ohimini Local Government officials to discuss regional peace and stability.
-
The Incident: Approximately an hour after the meeting, Risku and an associate were intercepted and fatally shot in Okudu village.
