DUTSE, Nigeria — The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug peddlers and seized more than 23,000 tablets of illegal drugs during a series of raids across the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Police spokesperson DSP Lawan Shisu Adam said in a statement on Saturday that the arrests followed intelligence-led operations carried out in Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari divisions. He said the suspects were caught with large quantities of Tramadol, Exol, Diazepam, D5 tablets, and several wraps of cannabis, among other substances.

“The suspects were arrested with 13,505 Exol tablets, 3,572 Tramadol tablets, 1,583 D5 tablets, 565 Diazepam tablets, 2,469 rubber solutions, 886 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and other substances such as Akurkura and Farin Malam,” Adam said.

Those arrested include 60-year-old Muhammad Garba of Mekiya village in Gabasawa Local Government Area of Kano State, 55-year-old Musa Garba, and Hudu Ma’ila from Guneri village in Niger Republic. Police said the suspects were apprehended while attempting to distribute the drugs within Jigawa and neighboring states.

Adam added that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects were part of a cross-border drug trafficking network that has been operating between Nigeria and Niger Republic. He said the police have launched further investigations to track other members of the syndicate.

“This is one of the largest seizures in the state in recent times. The suspects are cooperating with investigators, and they will be charged in court as soon as investigations are completed,” the police spokesperson added.

The Jigawa Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting drug abuse and trafficking across the state. He also urged residents to provide credible information that could help law enforcement agencies identify and dismantle criminal networks.

Drug trafficking and abuse have remained major challenges in northern Nigeria, particularly among young people. Authorities say drug addiction contributes to rising cases of violence, theft, and other social crimes.

Earlier this month, the Jigawa State Police Command also arrested 13 suspected drug dealers in coordinated raids across five local government areas, seizing thousands of illegal tablets and substances. Officials said the latest arrests show continued efforts to cut off the supply of dangerous drugs in the state.

Community leaders have praised the police for the recent operations, calling them a “necessary step” to protect youths from drug addiction and its effects. They also appealed to the government to provide more rehabilitation centers and youth empowerment programs to address the root causes of the problem.

The police said investigations are ongoing to identify the sources of the seized drugs and the routes used by traffickers. They also assured residents that regular patrols and intelligence operations will continue across border communities to stop the inflow of illicit substances.

Authorities warned that anyone found involved in the sale or distribution of illegal drugs will face prosecution under Nigerian law.

The suspects remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

“We Will Rig You!”: Peter Obi Issues Explosive Warning To INEC Over Alleged Election Manipulation!.

Published

During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), argued that the prevalence of election rigging in Nigeria is largely due to voters failing to actively defend their ballots. Obi emphasized that while candidates play a role in the process, credible outcomes ultimately depend on citizens remaining at their polling units to ensure votes are counted transparently. He criticized the “transactional” nature of Nigerian politics, suggesting that many voters prioritize other activities over the essential task of monitoring the electoral process. According to Obi, Nigeria’s primary challenge is poor political leadership, and he urged citizens to take collective ownership of their votes to demand the accountable governance required for the country to succeed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for increased citizen involvement in protecting electoral integrity. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi stated that election manipulation persists because voters frequently leave polling stations before the counting process is completed. He argued that:

  • Voters must proactively defend their ballots at polling units to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.

  • Nigeria’s fundamental obstacle is a crisis of political leadership, rather than a lack of natural or human resources.

  • Real change requires Nigerians to move beyond passive participation and take active responsibility for the electoral process.
