Wike: Tinubu Setting Nigeria on Path to Positive Development
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said Friday that President Bola Tinubu is steering Nigeria toward sustainable development through focused governance and strategic reforms.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the remarks during the inauguration of the Collector Road C01 in Abuja’s Institution and Research District. The road links the Body of Benchers complex to Nile and Baze Universities and is part of a broader infrastructure drive to improve connectivity and economic activity in the capital.
The minister praised the president for laying a strong foundation for long-term development, acknowledging that no leader can solve all of Nigeria’s challenges in a single term. “When he finishes, another person will come and continue from there,” Wike said, highlighting the importance of continuity in governance.
Wike also stressed that challenges are inevitable in any administration. He urged citizens to recognize the government’s development efforts, calling it a sign of responsible citizenship.
Under President Tinubu, the government has implemented several economic reforms aimed at stabilizing public finances and promoting investment. These include the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of exchange rates, and new tax policies. Analysts say these measures have helped improve Nigeria’s economic outlook and attract foreign support.
International institutions have taken note. The African Development Bank announced plans to lend Nigeria $500 million in 2025 as part of a $1 billion budget support program, citing reforms initiated under Tinubu’s administration.
The government has also focused on boosting the oil sector. Nigeria’s crude oil production has risen to between 1.7 million and 1.83 million barrels per day, thanks to increased drilling activity and investment-friendly policies, including the “Project One Million Barrels” initiative launched in October 2024.
Infrastructure development has been a key part of the administration’s agenda. Roads, bridges, and urban projects like the Collector Road C01 aim to improve mobility, enhance economic opportunities, and support education and research institutions.
Wike’s remarks reflect a wider recognition of Tinubu’s efforts to create a sustainable path for Nigeria’s growth. By focusing on reforms, infrastructure, and investment, the administration seeks to provide a foundation that future leaders can build upon.
Observers note that while immediate results may be gradual, the long-term impact of these initiatives could be significant. Improvements in transport, energy, and financial management are expected to support business growth, reduce poverty, and increase access to essential services across the country.
The inauguration of Collector Road C01 also underscores the government’s commitment to linking strategic areas in Abuja, which is home to major government offices, universities, and research institutions. Officials say such projects not only ease traffic congestion but also enhance safety and foster economic activity.
Wike encouraged citizens to actively support ongoing projects and reforms, emphasizing that public cooperation is crucial for national progress. He said that recognition of development efforts helps build a positive political culture and ensures that progress is sustained beyond a single administration.
As Nigeria continues to implement reforms and invest in infrastructure, the government plans to expand similar initiatives nationwide. The combination of economic reforms, investment in energy and oil production, and targeted infrastructure development forms the core strategy for long-term national growth.
“President Tinubu is setting Nigeria on a path that future leaders can continue,” Wike said. “It is a path of positive development for all Nigerians.”
