BARCELONA — FC Barcelona has unveiled a new special-edition jersey in collaboration with global music star Ed Sheeran and Spotify, featuring the logo of Sheeran’s latest album, Play. The kit is part of the club’s ongoing effort to blend football and music, giving fans a unique experience that celebrates creativity both on and off the pitch.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The new design will make its first appearance on October 19, when Barcelona’s women’s team faces Real Sociedad. The men’s team will then wear it during one of football’s biggest rivalries — El Clásico — against Real Madrid on October 26.

Club president Joan Laporta said the collaboration represents more than just a marketing move. “This partnership shows how football and music can come together to create something special for our supporters,” Laporta said. “We’re proud to continue working with Spotify to deliver new experiences that bring fans closer to both their favorite team and artists.”

For Ed Sheeran, who is one of the world’s most streamed musicians, seeing his album logo appear on one of football’s most iconic jerseys was an emotional moment. “It feels surreal to have my Play logo on Barcelona’s shirt,” Sheeran said. “Music and football both bring people together, and this is a beautiful way to celebrate that connection.”

The collaboration with Sheeran continues Spotify’s strategy of highlighting global artists through its partnership with Barcelona. In previous seasons, the club has worn special kits featuring the logos of stars like Drake, Rosalía, and The Rolling Stones. Each collaboration aimed to connect music fans and football supporters around the world.

The limited-edition “Play” kit includes exclusive merchandise such as jerseys, jackets, and other accessories, now available at official FC Barcelona stores and online. The release also coincides with the promotion of Sheeran’s new album, which dropped in September 2025.

Fans can expect the kit to feature Barcelona’s traditional blue and red stripes, enhanced with Sheeran’s signature Play logo at the center — a simple yet striking addition that ties the world of pop music to the energy of Spanish football.

According to club officials, the collaboration aims to engage younger audiences who follow both football and streaming music. The initiative reflects Barcelona’s ongoing innovation in building its global brand and connecting with supporters beyond the sport itself.

As anticipation builds for El Clásico, one of the most-watched matches in world football, both fans and music lovers are eager to see how the Play kit looks on the pitch. The partnership between FC Barcelona, Ed Sheeran, and Spotify continues to redefine how entertainment and sport can work hand in hand — creating a modern fusion of rhythm, rivalry, and recognition.

He noted that many people misunderstand his journey because they do not realise how young he was when he entered the spotlight, adding that he “got caught up so young” and went through personal struggles.

In the song, the 25-year-old also made striking claims about his experiences during fame, alleging that he was introduced to drugs by some women.

He sang: “Girls always give me drugs. My happiness is zipped in their little purse… Friends always make me feel robbed…”

In an interview with The Shade Room, the Smack That hitmaker claimed that men are not naturally built to be with only one partner, saying it goes against human nature.

According to him, many men are drawn to multiple partners, but what truly matters is self-control and emotional loyalty rather than strict exclusivity.

The businessman also drew a distinction between “commitment” and “faithfulness,” explaining that a man may feel attraction to others but still choose to remain devoted to one partner in practice.

The father of nine said faithfulness is about staying emotionally dedicated to one person despite temptations, while admitting that complete commitment to one partner is, in his view, unrealistic for men.

He said: “We’re not committed. We’re not built to be committed. We’re natural beings by nature, right? Okay. We populate because that’s how God created us to be…”

He added that faithfulness is about choosing one partner despite temptations, while describing commitment as something men often struggle with due to nature.
