Bwala made this known while speaking with journalists in Abuja, stressing that President Tinubu’s policies have led to a steady improvement in national security. He said the government’s commitment to reforming the security sector is beginning to show positive results.
According to Bwala, the president’s approach has focused on strengthening coordination among the armed forces, improving intelligence sharing, and addressing the root causes of insecurity such as poverty and unemployment.
“When you compare the current security situation with what we had before, you will see that Nigerians are now relatively safer,” Bwala said. “The president’s strategy is producing results, even if we are not yet where we want to be.”
He added that several parts of the country that were once flashpoints for banditry and insurgency have started experiencing calm. “Today, there are fewer incidents of mass abductions and terrorist attacks compared to the past. That shows progress,” he said.
Bwala noted that Tinubu’s administration has increased funding for security agencies, improved their welfare, and introduced new technology to support operations. “You cannot expect magic overnight, but when a government is serious, you will begin to see the difference,” he said.
The presidential aide also urged Nigerians to support the government’s efforts by sharing useful information with security agencies and avoiding spreading false reports that could create panic.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility. Citizens must help the government by cooperating with the police and military. Spreading fear or fake news only helps the criminals,” he said.
Bwala further highlighted the government’s investments in community policing, local vigilance groups, and peace-building programs aimed at rebuilding trust in conflict-affected regions.
He said the administration remains committed to ending the insecurity that has affected Nigeria for more than a decade. “President Tinubu believes that no investor or tourist will come to a country where people live in fear. That is why security is his top priority,” he added.
On the issue of economic hardship, Bwala said Tinubu’s economic reforms are long-term measures that will eventually stabilize the economy and improve living conditions. “Security and economy go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other. The president is tackling both with courage,” he said.
While acknowledging that some Nigerians are still struggling with the effects of reforms, Bwala said the government is working on social programs to support the most vulnerable groups. “People will soon begin to see the benefits of these difficult decisions,” he said.
Bwala concluded by assuring that the Tinubu administration is not taking security challenges lightly. “No government can solve all problems instantly, but this government is facing the issues head-on with sincerity and action,” he said.
