APC Youths Accuse Zamfara Governor of Misusing Funds, Ignoring Insecurity
GUSAU, Nigeria — The National Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal of wasting public funds on political revenge instead of solving key problems affecting the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The group alleged that Lawal’s government has “squandered public resources on political vendettas,” while insecurity, poor roads, and a lack of basic services continue to trouble residents across Zamfara.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the APC youth leaders said that the governor’s focus on settling political scores has left the state struggling with serious challenges. They claimed that several communities remain under the threat of bandit attacks, yet the state government has done little to protect them or rebuild damaged infrastructure.
“The people of Zamfara expected progress and safety under this administration,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, Governor Lawal has chosen politics over development, using state funds to target opponents instead of tackling insecurity and poverty.”
The APC Youth Wing also criticized the slow pace of road construction and the poor condition of schools and hospitals across the state. They said many rural areas are cut off due to bad roads, making it hard for farmers to transport goods or for students to attend school.
“You cannot talk about development when people cannot travel safely or access quality education and healthcare,” the group said. “The governor must wake up to his responsibilities and deliver on his campaign promises.”
Governor Lawal, who came into office promising to restore peace and rebuild the economy of Zamfara, has not yet responded to the allegations. However, his supporters have previously dismissed similar claims as “politically motivated,” accusing the APC of trying to discredit the government ahead of the next election.
Zamfara State has faced years of insecurity due to armed bandit groups operating in rural areas, forcing thousands to flee their homes. Despite several security operations by the federal and state governments, attacks and kidnappings remain frequent.
Political observers say the growing war of words between the APC and the ruling party in the state could increase tensions, especially as both sides prepare for future elections.
The APC Youth Wing urged the governor to focus on improving security and delivering real results for the people. “Leadership is not about revenge,” the group said. “It is about service to the people.”
