According to Nivo News, the Head of the National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, gave the assurance during a sensitisation campaign held across several parts of Lagos, including Yaba, Ojo, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Maryland, and Surulere.
Dr. Dangut explained that the awareness drive was aimed at preparing schools and candidates for the transition to computer-based testing while giving them an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the system before the examination.
He emphasised that all registered candidates, whether within or outside Nigeria, would be able to participate without difficulty. “Every candidate who registers for the CB-WASSCE 2026 will write the examination, whether in the UK or elsewhere. CB-WASSCE is the future of examinations, and we are fully ready,” he stated.
Dr. Dangut further noted that the full adoption of computer-based assessments will enhance the integrity of the examination process, reduce malpractices, and eliminate logistical challenges that have hindered previous paper-based tests.
Highlighting WAEC’s successful track record, he revealed that five computer-based examinations have already been conducted, each recording higher candidate performance and lower cases of malpractice.
He also addressed speculations about the removal of certain subjects from the Continuous Assessment (CASS) portal, clarifying that the decision to phase out some trade subjects was based on government directives and stakeholder consensus.
“For example, subjects like auto merchandising have been discontinued by the government. Retaining them in the portal would serve no purpose. However, where names have changed, the content remains intact,” he explained.
Dr. Dangut reaffirmed WAEC’s dedication to innovation and transparency, stressing that the council is determined to position Nigeria as a leader in technology-driven education and assessment across West Africa.
