According to Nivo News, Brazilian defender Gabriel turned from villain to hero when he rose highest in the 96th minute to head home the winning goal, sending the away fans into jubilation and cutting Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to just two points.

It had initially looked like another frustrating outing for Mikel Arteta’s men after Nick Woltemade capitalised on Gabriel’s slip to give Newcastle the lead in the first half. The Brazilian endured further misery moments later when he caught the striker in the face with a reckless shove, but escaped with only a warning.

Arsenal thought they had a chance to equalise when Viktor Gyokeres was brought down by goalkeeper Nick Pope, but after a lengthy VAR review, the penalty decision was overturned as replays showed Pope made the slightest of touches on the ball before the collision.

The Gunners, however, grew stronger as the game progressed. With six minutes left, substitute Mikel Merino connected with a teasing cross to draw Arsenal level, before Gabriel atoned for his earlier mistake by heading in the decisive goal deep into stoppage time. His celebration reflected relief and redemption, while Arteta and his staff erupted on the sidelines, fully aware of the significance of the victory following Liverpool’s shock defeat to Crystal Palace a day earlier.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.

The party further alleged that the move is aimed at distracting attention from governance challenges in the state.
