According to Nivo News, Oyintiloye made the remarks while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, noting that party leaders, including former Governor Bisi Akande and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, were working with stakeholders to ensure that the best candidate emerges from the growing list of aspirants.
He explained that although the number of contenders within the APC continues to rise, the leadership will provide the necessary guidance to manage the process effectively. Oyintiloye stressed that all aspirants were capable of winning, but unity and cooperation within the party were essential to achieving success in 2026.
The APC stalwart appealed to party members and aspirants to rally behind whoever becomes the flagbearer, describing the next governorship election as crucial for the party’s resurgence. He praised the roles of Akande and Oyetola in keeping the APC strong despite internal challenges, while also commending their efforts in attracting key figures from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oyintiloye further stated that the people of Osun were yearning for a change of government and were eager for the APC to return to power. He expressed confidence that with the collective efforts of leaders and members, the party would reclaim the governorship seat with a convincing margin.

He noted that unlike typical political races, the electorate was uniquely prepared to hand Obi power entirely free of charge, without the usual transactional struggles. According to Okonkwo, because God and the people were ready to bestow this gift, Obi needed to be willing to endure any sacrifice necessary to secure and hold onto it.
Turning to other political figures, Okonkwo characterized Atiku Abubakar as a kind-hearted and humane leader driven by a relentless determination to win the presidency so he can share the fruits of his leadership with the country before the end of his lifetime.
