Wike, a senior figure in the PDP, emphasized the importance of prioritizing development over party loyalty, highlighting that Governor Eno’s move to work closely with the Senate President would bring significant benefits to the state. He noted that such collaborations are crucial for achieving meaningful development.

“Unity fosters development. Working together strengthens us and brings about progress,” Wike remarked, underscoring that the decision to align with the Senate President is a step in the right direction for Akwa Ibom’s future growth.

Wike commended Eno for recognizing that development comes first, affirming that the partnership between the governor and Senate President would usher in more infrastructure and projects in the state. “The decision to work with the Senate President is in the best interest of Akwa Ibom. With this collaboration, you will witness increased development and government presence in the state,” he said.

He also lauded Governor Eno’s leadership, citing the successful construction of the Ikot Esu-Azomini road as a testament to his commitment to the state’s progress.

Echoing his belief in progress over party politics, Wike pointed to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership as an example of how prioritizing development can lead to tangible results. “Under President Tinubu’s leadership, the government has provided the necessary funding for states to carry out important projects,” Wike stated.

Earlier in the event, Governor Eno reiterated the need for unity to drive development, saying, “When we unite for progress, politics takes a back seat.” He also expressed gratitude to Abia State Governor for his collaboration on the road project, which spans across both Akwa Ibom and Abia states.

Governor Eno also voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term, citing the president’s efforts to stabilize the nation’s economy. “We support President Tinubu because we have seen the positive changes he has made. The economy is stabilizing, and we now have the resources to carry out projects like this without falling into debt,” he said. “We are committed to supporting his second term, and we also stand behind Senator Godswill Akpabio.”

Eno then directed the Ministry of Works to expedite the completion of the Mbiabong-Atan-Ikon-Inya road project, warning that any further delays would result in the termination of the contract. “We must ensure that all projects are completed on time and that contractors fulfill their obligations,” he emphasized.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has adjusted its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), lowering it from ₦1,275 to ₦1,250 per litre, marking a two per cent reduction. This price shift is attributed to a decline in international crude oil prices, which serve as the refinery’s primary feedstock.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    An official from the refinery noted that such adjustments are expected in a deregulated market and emphasized that the company will continue to calibrate prices based on evolving market conditions. Despite this move, current retail prices at many filling stations across Nigeria remain above ₦1,350 per litre, with costs varying by location and marketer.Beyond pricing, the refinery has been credited as a key driver of Nigeria’s improving economic outlook. S&P Global Ratings recently upgraded the country’s long-term foreign- and local-currency sovereign credit ratings from “B-” to “B,” citing factors such as stronger economic growth, increased oil production, and improved external balances. The friction began when Kwankwaso, speaking at his Kano residence, insisted that prominent politicians—including Ganduje—owe their political rise to his mentorship and cannot deny their past loyalty to him. Ganduje, currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, responded through his chief of staff, Muhammad Garba, by asserting that Kwankwaso was actually his own protégé. Ganduje highlighted his role in Kwankwaso’s early career, including his support during Kwankwaso’s rise to the House of Representatives and his decision to step down as a gubernatorial candidate in 1998 to serve as Kwankwaso’s deputy.
