on

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially set the dates for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation course. The program is scheduled to begin on November 3, 2025, for all eligible corps members across Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to an official statement released by the NYSC Directorate, the orientation course will run for three weeks and will include a mix of skills acquisition, community development, and national integration activities. The program is compulsory for all graduates who have been mobilized under the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II.

The NYSC emphasized that corps members are required to report at their designated Orientation Camp on the stated date. Registration and verification processes will commence two days before the orientation, and all participants must carry the necessary documents, including a valid call-up letter, identification, and academic certificates.

The directorate also reminded corps members to adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines, although vaccination is no longer mandatory. Officials urged participants to maintain discipline and follow camp regulations to ensure a smooth orientation process.

The NYSC orientation is a crucial part of Nigeria’s national service program, which aims to foster unity, skill development, and community service among young graduates. During the course, participants receive training in leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility, alongside engaging in community development projects.

In previous years, the NYSC orientation has attracted thousands of graduates from universities and polytechnics across the country. Some participants have praised the program for providing opportunities to acquire new skills and build professional networks, while others have called for improvements in camp facilities and logistics.

A spokesperson for the NYSC said, “We encourage all corps members to prepare adequately for the orientation. It is not just a formality; it is an opportunity to develop personally and contribute meaningfully to your community and country.”

The NYSC also warned that failure to report for the orientation without valid reasons could lead to suspension or deferment of service, affecting the issuance of discharge certificates and eligibility for employment in some government positions.

Experts say the orientation course remains an important tool for national cohesion, especially in a country as diverse as Nigeria. It allows young people from different states and ethnic backgrounds to interact, learn from each other, and develop a sense of national identity.

This year’s Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation is expected to see higher participation than previous years, as more graduates complete their studies and seek to fulfill the mandatory national service requirement. NYSC officials have promised improved facilities, better security, and enhanced training programs to ensure a productive experience for all corps members.

As the start date approaches, corps members are advised to check the official NYSC portal regularly for updates on reporting instructions, camp locations, and other important information.

The 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation will conclude with the passing-out parade, a ceremony that marks the end of the orientation course and the official deployment of corps members to their place of primary assignment (PPA) across the country.

FCT Teachers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Demands.

The State Wing Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ordered all public primary and secondary school teachers in Abuja to commence an indefinite strike from Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The union also directed parents and guardians to keep their children at home until further notice, citing unresolved welfare concerns and what it described as government inaction.

This followed a communiqué issued after an emergency SWEC meeting held in Gwagwalada, Abuja, over the weekend and signed by the state leadership of the union.

Teachers were instructed to fully comply with the strike directive and await further instructions from the union leadership, as the industrial action remains in force until their demands are addressed.

According to the communiqué, the strike became necessary after the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum earlier issued to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, which elapsed without a satisfactory response.

The union recalled that although previous interventions led to the suspension of an earlier strike, several key issues affecting teachers’ welfare were still unresolved.

It also expressed concern that a committee set up to address outstanding entitlements submitted its report in August 2025, but the findings have not been made public or implemented.

While acknowledging the payment of the new minimum wage and some salary arrears, the union insisted that major concerns remain unattended.

The NUT further demanded reforms in promotion processes and a review of the 2024 promotion exercise.

After what it described as unsuccessful engagements and expired deadlines, the union declared that all teachers in the FCT will remain on strike indefinitely until their demands are met.
