Chelsea Palmer Avoids Surgery for Groin Injury, Maresca Confirms
Chelsea forward Cole Palmer will not need immediate surgery on a groin injury that forced him off during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, manager Enzo Maresca said Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Palmer, 23, has been dealing with the problem for several weeks and managed only 21 minutes at Old Trafford before leaving the pitch. The setback has raised concerns over the England international’s fitness as Chelsea prepare for a busy run of matches.
Maresca, however, moved to calm fears of a long-term absence.
“The medical staff didn’t mention to me about surgery,” Maresca told reporters. “I don’t know if in the next days or the next weeks, but I don’t think so, to be honest.”
The Italian coach said Palmer was determined to play against United despite being less than fully fit.
“He made a huge effort on Saturday to try to play the game,” Maresca said. “He did the test, and he was OK, but not 100 percent. He wanted to be there to help his teammates. Unfortunately, it was painful, so we decided to change it. Now it’s more day-by-day, week-by-week, game-by-game to see how it is and then decide what we do.”
Set to Miss League Cup Match
Palmer is expected to sit out Chelsea’s League Cup third-round tie on Tuesday at Lincoln City, a League One club currently enjoying strong form.
Chelsea will also be without midfielder Romeo Lavia and defender Benoit Badiashile, leaving Maresca with limited options for the trip.
The coach suggested he may turn to Chelsea’s youth academy to fill gaps in the squad, but admitted the approach carries risk in a knockout competition.
“These are the games that worry me most, because you can slip up very easily,” Maresca said. “Football is full of these kinds of games, and I am very worried about that.”
Key Player for Chelsea
Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, has been one of the team’s most important players over the past year. His creativity and ability to score in big matches helped Chelsea finish strongly last season and earned him a place in England’s squad for Euro 2024.
This season, injuries have limited his impact. He has started only two Premier League matches and has yet to complete a full 90 minutes.
Chelsea fans will be hoping Palmer avoids a lengthy spell on the sidelines. With the club competing in the Premier League, domestic cups and European football, his presence is seen as vital to Maresca’s first campaign in charge.
Injury Concerns Pile Up
Palmer’s setback adds to a growing list of fitness issues at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have struggled with injuries to key players over the past two seasons, a problem that has disrupted consistency on the pitch.
Maresca, who took over as manager in the summer, has emphasized the need for patience as he builds a team capable of challenging for trophies. But he acknowledged that squad depth will be tested in the coming weeks.
Looking Ahead
For now, Chelsea are focusing on their midweek trip to Lincoln, followed by a return to Premier League action at home next weekend.
Palmer’s condition will continue to be monitored by medical staff, with updates expected before the next league fixture.
While surgery is not on the table, the decision to manage the injury on a game-by-game basis means Maresca faces uncertainty over when his star forward will return at full strength.
“Cole is very important for us,” Maresca said. “We need him, but we also need to protect him. It’s a balance, and we will see how he improves.”

THE FINAL HOURS: Former Security Chief Unveils Chilling Secrets Surrounding Sani Abacha’s Sudden Death!.
A former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Dennis Amachree, has offered a fresh account of the circumstances surrounding the death of former military Head of State, General Sani Abacha.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Abacha, who ruled Nigeria from November 1993 until his death in June 1998, died while still in office, an incident that has remained the subject of speculation and conspiracy theories for decades.
In his new book, DSS @40: My Journey Behind the Shield, former Department of State Services (DSS) Assistant Director Dennis Amachree provides a new perspective on the death of former military Head of State, General Sani Abacha. Amachree, who was serving as Assistant Director of Operations and Intelligence in Lagos at the time, refutes decades of speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding the 1998 event.
According to Amachree, a woman described as Abacha’s girlfriend, accompanied by her younger sister, a pharmacist, arrived at the Aso Rock Guest House in the early hours of the morning. After her sister left, the girlfriend was alone with Abacha when he reportedly suffered a coitus-induced cardiac arrest. In a panic, she left the guest house, told the soldier on duty that Abacha had requested a vehicle, and returned to her hotel. From there, she and her sister flew to Lagos.
Security officials subsequently launched a search for the women. Amachree, contacted by the Director of Operations at DSS headquarters, led a team that located the girlfriend in the Ogudu area of Lagos. He personally interrogated her, and she reportedly stated, “I did not kill him; he died on top of me,” maintaining that Abacha died from a sudden medical emergency. Amachree asserts that this account, based on the pharmacist’s testimony, is the definitive version of events and debunks other theories, such as poisoning or the involvement of foreign women. Abacha’s death occurred a month before that of political prisoner Moshood Abiola. Amachree’s account is his recollection and has not been independently verified.

MASSIVE SCANDAL: ICPC Drags Femi Gbajabiamila Into Explosive Interrogation Over Fake Agency Probe!.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has verified that it interviewed Presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila as part of an ongoing probe into the unauthorized Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). According to a statement released on Tuesday by ICPC Head of Media and Public Communications Demola Bakare, Gbajabiamila voluntarily answered an invitation at the commission’s Abuja headquarters on Monday and was neither arrested nor detained. Investigators questioned him to understand how the fake council managed to operate from the Federal Secretariat for roughly two years without any legal backing or presidential proclamation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Gbajabiamila’s legal counsel, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that his client arrived at the commission around 3 p.m. per President Bola Tinubu’s directive, provided testimony, answered all inquiries, and returned to his duties. The probe stems from a presidential directive ordering the ICPC to investigate the unapproved entity within 30 days. The Federal Government previously disowned the PFIPC, which was allegedly run by Adeniyi Adeyemi under the guise of serving as its Director-General. The investigation intensified after Adeyemi claimed he paid ₦400 million in bribes—including funds purportedly meant for Gbajabiamila—to facilitate the agency’s setup. Gbajabiamila has completely denied the bribery allegations, maintaining instead that he was the one who reported Adeyemi and the fraudulent council to the police.
Authorities are currently looking into how the bogus organization secured office space in the Federal Secretariat, obtained budgetary allocations, opened Central Bank of Nigeria accounts, and hired public servants using official documentation. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is running a parallel inquiry into the matter. Adeyemi faces separate criminal charges for conspiracy and forgery at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where a warrant was previously issued for his arrest before he was taken into police custody. Additionally, Gbajabiamila has initiated a ₦15 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi over the bribery claims after a demand for a retraction and apology went unfulfilled.
