Tinubu to Attend Ladoja Coronation as 44th Olubadan, Weeklong Events Announced

The coronation committee announced a weeklong schedule of cultural and traditional events leading to the main ceremony. The program will feature prayers, a cultural parade, and receptions to honor the new monarch.
Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, will succeed the late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, who died earlier this year. His installation is expected to draw dignitaries, traditional rulers, and politicians from across Nigeria.
Committee Chairman Chief Olayinka Olaniyan said the events were designed to showcase Ibadan’s heritage and promote unity. “We want the world to see the beauty of our culture and the pride of Ibadanland,” he said.
The coronation will mark a new chapter in the city’s long history of traditional leadership. The Olubadan is regarded as the custodian of Ibadan’s customs and an important voice in Oyo State affairs.
Tinubu’s attendance highlights the significance of the ceremony at both local and national levels. It will also be his first major traditional coronation event since taking office in 2023.
Celebrations will begin with interfaith prayers and community service before building up to the official coronation day. The final ceremony is expected to attract thousands of participants and visitors.
The Olubadan’s palace committee said security and logistics are being arranged to ensure a smooth celebration.

Taking over leadership at the JAMB headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, Aina succeeds Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose 10-year, two-term tenure concluded on July 31, 2026. Initially approved by President Bola Tinubu on May 21 when Aina was 39, this appointment marks him as the youngest individual ever to lead the examination body.
When the appointment was first announced, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, highlighted Aina’s deep background in digital infrastructure, public-sector reforms, and national examination systems, noting his historic milestone as one of Nigeria’s youngest computer engineering professors.
In his inaugural address, Aina acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessor—who is widely credited with modernizing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)—and vowed to expand on those achievements. Emphasizing a strong stance against malpractice, he warned wrongdoers that their illicit activities have no place at JAMB, promising to ramp up modern technological investments and deepen partnerships with security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the admissions process.
