Chelsea Aim to End 12-Year Old Trafford Curse Against Manchester United

Published

on

Chelsea will travel to Old Trafford this weekend with one clear mission: to finally secure their first Premier League victory at Manchester United’s ground in 12 years.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Blues’ last win at Old Trafford came in May 2013, when Juan Mata’s late strike sealed a narrow victory. Since then, Chelsea have endured frustration in Manchester, recording seven draws and five defeats in their last 12 visits. Their most recent trip ended in a 1-1 draw last November.

Chelsea Arrive in Strong Form

Enzo Maresca’s side heads into the clash full of confidence after a bright start to the season. Chelsea remain one of just three unbeaten teams in the Premier League so far, showing consistency and balance in their performances.

However, their midweek 3-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich exposed defensive weaknesses, and injuries to key players could test their depth in this high-pressure fixture.

Manchester United Struggling for Consistency

Manchester United, under Ruben Amorim, are enduring a poor run of form. The Red Devils have managed only one win from their opening four league games, leaving them in 14th place.

A heavy 3-0 defeat against Manchester City last weekend, combined with earlier losses to Arsenal and Fulham, has put Amorim under early pressure. United’s only league victory came in a narrow 3-2 win over Burnley.

A High-Stakes Encounter

For Chelsea, the clash is about more than just extending their unbeaten run. A victory at Old Trafford would not only end a 12-year wait but also send a strong message about their title ambitions under Maresca.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will be desperate to respond to critics and climb back into the top half of the table. Old Trafford has historically been a difficult ground for Chelsea, but United’s shaky form offers the Blues a rare opening.

With both clubs at pivotal points in their seasons, Saturday’s meeting promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the Premier League weekend.

Done Deal! Mainoo Commits Future To Manchester United In Massive Contract Extension.

Kobbie Mainoo has pledged his long-term future to Manchester United after signing a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2031, bringing an end to months of uncertainty over his future.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 21-year-old academy graduate has already made 98 senior appearances since breaking into the first team and famously scored the decisive goal in the 2024 FA Cup final. He also represented England at the UEFA Euro 2024 final.

Speaking after signing the deal, Mainoo said: “Manchester United has always been my home, this special club means everything to my family. I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”

His previous contract, signed before his breakthrough in 2023, was set to run until 2027. However, his future came under scrutiny earlier this season after limited playing time under former manager Ruben Amorim, leading to interest in a January loan move to Napoli. The club, however, blocked the move and insisted he remained at Old Trafford.

Since then, Mainoo has regained his place under interim manager Michael Carrick, starting nearly all of United’s last 12 league matches, missing only the defeat to Leeds United due to injury.

He added: “I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.

“We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”

Mainoo’s resurgence has also earned him a return to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel, with call-ups for recent friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox praised the midfielder’s progress, describing him as a model professional.

“His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system,” Wilcox said.

“We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world.”

CAF Throws Full Weight Behind Infantino’s 2027 FIFA Re-Election Ambition.

Published

on

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared its total support for Gianni Infantino’s bid to continue as FIFA President for the 2027–2031 term.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The unanimous decision was reached during meetings held in Vancouver, where all 54 CAF Member Associations adopted a united stance in favour of the current FIFA boss. The endorsement gives Infantino a significant early advantage, as Africa represents FIFA’s largest voting bloc ahead of the official election process.

In a statement issued after the meeting, Africa’s football governing bodies said: “The CAF Member Associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as President of FIFA for the period 2027-2031.”

The move reflects a strong show of unity across African football and indicates that Infantino’s campaign for another term is already building considerable international momentum.

Since assuming office in 2016, the Swiss-Italian football administrator has introduced major reforms in global football, including expanding international tournaments and boosting financial assistance for FIFA member associations.

CAF’s early endorsement is regarded as a major strategic advantage, considering Africa’s substantial voting influence within FIFA Congress. Securing the continent’s backing at this stage provides Infantino with a solid political base as other football confederations begin to determine their own positions.

The next FIFA presidential election is expected to take place in Morocco. If re-elected, Infantino could remain in office until 2031 after FIFA determined that his first term does not count toward the organisation’s 12-year term limit.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé both scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain edged Bayern Munich 5–4 in a dramatic first-leg UEFA Champions League semi-final clash on Tuesday, marking the highest-scoring semi-final match in the competition’s history.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The encounter exploded into life at the Parc des Princes, with Harry Kane putting Bayern ahead from the penalty spot. Kvaratskhelia quickly restored parity with a fine finish before João Neves headed PSG into the lead. Michael Olise then brought Bayern level again in a frantic opening half.

PSG went back in front just before half-time when Dembélé converted from the spot after a handball by Alphonso Davies. After the restart, the French champions extended their advantage as Kvaratskhelia completed a flowing team move, before Dembélé added another with a low strike that beat Manuel Neuer to make it 5–2.

Bayern refused to back down. Dayot Upamecano scored with a header from a Joshua Kimmich free-kick, while Luis Díaz added another to reduce the deficit and keep the tie alive.

The result sets up a decisive second leg at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, May 6, with a place in the final in Budapest still up for grabs. PSG coach Luis Enrique will take a narrow lead into the return fixture, where his side previously triumphed in last season’s final against Inter Milan.
