‘Every Action Behind NDC Deregistration Ruling Frivolous’ – Dickson.

Published

on

Seriake Dickson, National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned the recent legal challenges against his party, labeling the maneuvers behind the deregistration ruling as both “frivolous and embarrassing”. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Dickson argued that these actions are calculated attempts to destabilize and weaken the political opposition through flimsy excuses. He maintained that the NDC remains a registered entity, noting that the Federal High Court’s recent decision in Lokoja—which set aside a previous order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the party—contained no mandatory instruction for the commission to deregister the NDC.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Strategic Consolidation Ahead of 2027 In the wake of this legal development, NDC Vice Presidential candidate for 2027, Rabiu Kwankwaso, met with Dickson at his Abuja residence on Sunday to discuss the party’s future. Kwankwaso characterized the meeting as a vital step in bolstering the party’s unity and strategic readiness for the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the court order, Kwankwaso dismissed it as a “temporary setback” that will not dampen the resolve of the party or its base. He urged all members and supporters to remain steadfast, encouraging them to rise above this and any future obstacles the party may face.

NDC Not Deregistered! Website Crashes Under Weight Of New Members, Says Dickson.

Published

Seriake Dickson, National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has firmly rejected claims that the party has been deregistered following a recent Federal High Court ruling.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Dickson urged members and supporters to remain calm, revealing that the legal controversy has surprisingly boosted the party’s visibility. “Since Friday, thousands of Nigerians have been flocking to our website to register. They now know more about our party, they sympathize with our candidates, and they are buying into our vision,” he stated.

Legal Standing and 2027 Ambitions Addressing the confusion surrounding the court’s decision, Dickson clarified that the ruling did not equate to deregistration. He emphasized that the NDC has successfully conducted primaries for all elective offices—ranging from the House of Assembly to the Presidency—all of which were monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“All nominations have been validly carried out in accordance with INEC’s timeframe. The submission to INEC is merely an administrative procedure; the NDC remains a valid party, and no step has been taken to deregister it,” Dickson insisted. He expressed full confidence that all candidates flying the party’s flag will appear on the ballot for the 2027 general elections.

Context of the Dispute The recent judicial tension stems from a ruling by Justice Isah Dashen at the Federal High Court in Lokoja last Friday. The court set aside a previous December 10, 2025, judgment that had originally compelled INEC to register the NDC. The court’s reversal was prompted by a motion from the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which argued that the initial judgment infringed upon their rights regarding the ownership of the logo used in the suit.

Despite this setback, Dickson maintains that the party has already initiated legal measures to challenge the ruling and protect its status.

Published

on

Bode George, an elder statesman and former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed deep concern regarding the current state of Nigeria’s democratic institutions. Speaking at a memorial lecture in Lagos honoring the posthumous birthday of Herbert Macaulay, George argued that a democracy’s true strength lies in the institutions capable of restraining power rather than the influence of those currently in governance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

George emphasized several critical observations regarding the health of democratic systems:

  • The Necessity of Confidence: He stated that democracy relies on public trust in the rule of law, the impartiality of institutions, and the belief that public authority remains bound by constitutional constraints.

  • Warning Signs of Decline: George warned that democracy falters when political competition fades, institutions lose their neutrality, opposition figures are treated as adversaries, and citizens feel that electoral results are fixed.

  • Institutional Permanence: He stressed that while governments, parties, and leaders are temporary, institutions must endure, as their erosion causes national suffering.

  • The Danger of Normalization: According to George, the greatest threat to a nation is not merely the existence of corruption, injustice, or the abuse of power, but rather the societal normalization and acceptance of these issues, coupled with the silence of citizens in the face of such misconduct.
