In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described Elton’s life as one of unwavering service and profound impact on humanity. The governor commended Elton’s decision to renounce her British citizenship for Nigerian citizenship, describing it as a testament to her deep love for the country and its people. “I am devastated by the news of Ruth Elton’s passing. Though she lived to the ripe age of 91, her absence leaves a void, considering the remarkable contributions she made to Nigeria over the decades,” Adeleke said.

He noted that Elton’s efforts extended beyond ministry work to addressing medical emergencies in underserved communities, leaving a legacy of faith, compassion, and resilience. “Her passing is a heavy loss to Osun, where she breathed her last. Yet, we take solace in the enduring honour of her service and the lives she touched,” he added.

Adeleke prayed for the repose of Elton’s soul and urged the Christian community to uphold her legacy by continuing her mission of service to humanity.
