Mandate Confirmed: INEC Certifies Zamfara Election Winner
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a Certificate of Return to Kamilu Sa’idu, winner of the Kaura Namoda South State Constituency by-election in Zamfara State. The by-election, initially conducted on August 16 in 109 polling units across six registration areas of Kaura Namoda Local Government, was earlier declared inconclusive after reports of irregularities in some voting centres.
Presenting the certificate, Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Mahammud Isah described the exercise as transparent and credible. He commended stakeholders for their cooperation and commitment to democratic principles, urging the lawmaker-elect to focus on delivering meaningful progress to his constituency.
The Zamfara State APC Chairman, Alhaji Danfulani Maikatako, lauded INEC and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful process. He described the victory as evidence of the APC’s growing acceptance in Zamfara, expressing confidence that the party would regain full political control by 2027. He also assured members that internal disputes within the APC would be resolved ahead of the next general elections.
In his remarks, Sa’idu thanked party leaders and supporters for their trust, pledging to use his legislative experience to advance development in Kaura Namoda South and the state at large.
