“I lost a friend today due to online bullying. Committed suicide. Smh. RIP champ. It is well,” he wrote, highlighting the devastating impact of cyber harassment.
In a separate conversation about African cinema, Egbi recently weighed in on the state of film production across the continent. He noted that South Africa currently surpasses Nollywood in areas such as storytelling, filmmaking, and professional standards. While Nollywood has continued to grow and earn international recognition, he observed that South Africa has made notable strides in production quality and overall industry benchmarks.
Egbi emphasized the need for collaboration between Nollywood and South African cinema, stating that partnerships could strengthen African film on the global stage. “No offense to my Nollywood colleagues, but you see South Africa, they are ahead of us when it comes to film production, storytelling, filmmaking, work ethics, name it. They are ahead. We need to collaborate!” he remarked.
