The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Abuja residents to rally behind leaders who have demonstrated loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, stating that his own support will only go to those aligned with the President’s vision.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Thursday at the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Karu Water Supply Project, Wike commended former FCT senator Philip Aduda and Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairman Christopher Maikalangu for their contributions to community development. He promised to construct a two-kilometre road in Karu following Aduda’s request and praised Maikalangu’s record of attracting federal projects to the council.

“One thing about government and politics: support those who have the capacity to bring something to the people. Support those the government will listen to,” Wike said, assuring that his administration would prioritize leaders who deliver results.

He emphasized that Maikalangu enjoys direct access to the FCT administration, which has enabled the rehabilitation of several roads, including the Saburi Road, Kabusa–Takushere Road and Deidei Road. Wike further pledged that if Maikalangu is re-elected AMAC chairman, his office would grant full support regardless of party affiliation.

“I don’t know the party he belongs to, but I know he supports Tinubu. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” the former Rivers State governor declared.

Wike criticized previous governments for neglecting Karu communities, particularly in providing clean water, while noting that President Tinubu’s administration had fulfilled its promise to deliver potable water to satellite towns.

“We’ve had governments stay here for five years, even eight years. Did any come to give you water? This government promised water—and now we’ve come to deliver it. You now have a covenant with this government: agreement is agreement,” Wike said.

Aduda, who represented the FCT in the Senate from 2011 to 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost his seat in the last general election, while Maikalangu defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2024 and is seeking re-election in the February 2026 area council polls.

Supreme Court Verdict Triggers Possible Exodus of ADC Leaders To NDC.

Published

More leaders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are reportedly considering a shift to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the party’s leadership dispute.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Supreme Court had sent the substantive matter back to the Federal High Court for continuation, a development that some party stakeholders say has deepened uncertainty within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

An ADC chieftain who spoke with Punch described the judgment as far from conclusive, warning that the ongoing case at the Federal High Court could still shape the party’s future direction.

He said, “There is nothing much to celebrate in the verdict. It is like postponing the evil day. The substantive matter is at the Federal High Court, and we have many bridges to cross on that.

“If, as expected, the Tinubu administration manipulates the judiciary against us, that will be too late for us, and it may hand Tinubu a cheap victory.”

The source further disclosed that several coalition figures, including members of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, are unwilling to abandon efforts to secure a more stable political platform.

According to him, the NDC is now being evaluated as a potential alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said, “That’s why, after reviewing the Supreme Court judgment, many of our leaders in the coalition, including the Turaki-led PDP, said we shouldn’t abandon the search for a safer platform.

“We need to beat Tinubu at his game. We are considering NDC and hope to finalise discussions on that in a few days.”

The ADC chieftain also alleged that there were plans within the Presidency to instigate internal crises within the NDC, similar to what he claimed had happened in other opposition parties.

He said, “However, we are also aware of the President’s move to sponsor crises in the NDC, as they have been doing in every opposition party.

“The Peoples Redemption Party had indicated interest in working with us and, after a day, the government brought a faction from the party. They are planning to do that in NDC as well, but we shall overcome.”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have been in talks with its leadership as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary, Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, made this known while speaking on emerging political movements ahead of the polls.

He said the discussions involved the NDC National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, adding that consultations with both opposition figures had been ongoing for some time.

Speaking in an interview with Punch, Abdulsalam explained that there were indications of a possible alliance, though he stopped short of making a definitive confirmation.

He said, “Well, the most I can tell you is that they have been interfacing with our leader for quite some time. Also, do not forget that there is a possibility of an alliance that has been under discussion for quite some time.

“So, with the legal twist we are witnessing now, the legal uncertainties, I think there might be some credence to that. However, I cannot categorically confirm to you that it is true, but you should know that, to a very large extent, there is a possibility of it happening.”

The NDC spokesperson added that the party would be open to welcoming both Obi and Kwankwaso if they eventually decide to join its platform.

He further revealed that their names were reportedly received from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) about a month earlier.

Abdulsalam said, “Obi is most welcome at the party, not just him, even Kwankwaso too. They have discussed with our national leaders, so you should just watch out.

“We received their names about a month ago from the ADC. We are willing to give them the presidential ticket. We are willing to, you know, only Providence, except if Providence decides otherwise, we are willing, and they will join us.”

The Presidency has commenced efforts to address growing tensions surrounding the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A source at the Presidential Villa, who spoke with The Nation, confirmed that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, held a meeting with National Assembly leaders.

Those present included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

The source further revealed that after the engagement with National Assembly leaders at the Villa, the Presidential Supervision Team on National Assembly Primaries also met with members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

According to the source, the meetings were prompted by multiple petitions submitted to President Bola Tinubu over alleged moves by some governors to dominate or influence National Assembly primaries in APC-controlled states.

“The President has received many petitions on how the governors have been trying to hijack National Assembly primaries in APC states. There is so much tension,” the source said.

The source added that the Presidential Supervision Team was established to promote peace, oversee and monitor the primary process, and manage disputes before, during, and after the elections.

Possible Direct Presidential Intervention

The source also disclosed that where consensus cannot be reached, President Tinubu may instruct the party to conduct open, credible, and transparent primaries among all aspirants.

“Where there is no agreement, the President will direct the party to organise credible and transparent primaries among the aspirants,” the source said.

It was further explained that the team is supporting the APC National Working Committee in addressing emerging internal challenges, with more meetings expected in the coming days.

However, the source stressed that final decisions rest with the President, noting, “The buck stops on the President’s table.”
