Published

on

Ghanaian music star Shatta Wale has been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with a tax investigation linked to his acquisition of a luxury vehicle. According to Nivo News, the development follows the seizure of his yellow Lamborghini, which U.S. authorities allege is tied to a criminal network operated by fellow Ghanaian Nana Kwabena Amuah.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Amuah is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in the United States for defrauding several organizations through vendor impersonation schemes.

Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah, reportedly presented himself voluntarily to EOCO on Wednesday. His management stated that the detention strictly concerns outstanding tax obligations and dismissed any association between the artist and Amuah’s fraudulent activities.

The award-winning singer has maintained that he is merely a “third-party owner” of the $150,000 Lamborghini and claims to have no knowledge of the individual who shipped the vehicle into Ghana. Authorities have indicated that the car will likely be returned to the U.S. to help compensate Amuah’s victims.

Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s biggest entertainers, Shatta Wale gained global attention following his collaboration with Beyoncé on the 2019 track Already. His management has appealed to fans for calm while his legal representatives engage with investigators to resolve the case.

Officials say the probe forms part of a broader joint effort between Ghanaian and U.S. authorities to dismantle transnational fraud rings. Earlier this month, three Ghanaian nationals were extradited to the United States over a $100 million scheme involving romance scams and phishing operations.
