Romero Commits To Spurs As Transfer Frenzy Sweeps Premier League
Cristian Romero has committed his long-term future to Tottenham Hotspur by signing a new four-year contract that will keep him in north London until 2029.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The 27-year-old defender joined Spurs from Atalanta in 2021, initially on loan before completing a permanent transfer. Since arriving, he has made 126 appearances, scored eight goals, and captained the side to Europa League glory last season, ending the club’s 17-year wait for silverware with a victory over Manchester United in the final.
Romero, who was linked with Atletico Madrid during the summer, was recently appointed captain by head coach Thomas Frank. His contract renewal follows right-back Djed Spence’s extension as Tottenham continue efforts to secure key players before the new campaign.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth have reached an agreement to sign Liverpool’s teenage winger Ben Doak in a deal worth an initial £20 million plus £5 million in add-ons. The 19-year-old Scotland international, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, is expected to complete the move within 24 hours pending paperwork and a medical. Doak was notably absent from Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Bournemouth on Friday as negotiations gathered pace.
The transfer marks another significant step in a busy summer for the Cherries, who sold Dango Ouattara to Brentford for £42.5 million and have lost several defenders to European clubs. Manager Andoni Iraola acknowledged that the squad is “not where they want to be” but assured supporters that “important movements” will be made before the window closes.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest have finalized the signing of French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes on a five-year contract worth a reported £26 million. The 22-year-old, who netted 18 goals last season, expressed excitement about playing in the Premier League, saying he is eager to experience the atmosphere at the City Ground. His arrival provides a major attacking boost as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side prepare for Europa League football.
In other developments, AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed the club’s interest in Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund, while Newcastle striker Alexander Isak may miss Tuesday’s PFA Awards amid ongoing speculation linking him with Liverpool.
