Sources within the Presidency disclosed that Tinubu spent the entire day on official duties and received the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at the Presidential Villa. Although there has been no formal confirmation, the sources said the President might now commence the trip on Friday after a packed schedule on Thursday.
The initial itinerary indicated a stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before proceeding to Japan, where Tinubu is expected to attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.
The conference, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” will explore Africa’s economic growth, investment climate, private sector development, and sustainable progress, while also addressing peace, stability, and human security across the continent.
During his visit, Tinubu is scheduled to participate in plenary sessions, meet with Japanese government officials, and engage with chief executives of companies already investing in Nigeria.
