APC Fires Back At Atiku: “Your EFCC Claims Stem From Serial Defeats”
According to Nivo News, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of attempting to undermine key national institutions with his recent comments on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The party described Atiku’s allegation—that the anti-graft agency is being used by the Presidency to intimidate opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections—as baseless and politically motivated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued on Tuesday, APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo said Atiku’s remarks reflect hypocrisy, noting that the former vice president is now discrediting the same institutions he once claimed to support while in office. Oladejo reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has maintained an unwavering commitment to the rule of law and has never interfered in the statutory duties of anti-corruption agencies.
“The EFCC is an independent institution that operates without political influence or bias,” Oladejo stated, adding that the Commission’s work is guided solely by credible intelligence and evidence. He stressed that individuals with clean records have no reason to fear the agency’s investigations.
The APC further urged Atiku to address unresolved issues concerning his own public record rather than “peddling conspiracy theories” about the government. “It is regrettable that a former Vice President, once parading himself as an anti-corruption advocate, now seeks to tarnish institutions striving to sanitise Nigeria’s political and economic systems,” the statement read.
The ruling party also dismissed claims that it relies on underhanded tactics to win elections, insisting it enjoys the confidence of Nigerians through purposeful governance, infrastructural growth, and social investment programs. It described Atiku’s allegations as political grandstanding from a politician struggling to recover from repeated electoral defeats.
“In a democracy, law enforcement agencies must be allowed to carry out their constitutional duties without interference or blackmail,” Oladejo said. “We urge Nigerians to disregard these baseless claims and support the ongoing efforts to build a safer, more prosperous, and corruption-free nation
