Enough is Enough!” Bauchi and Gombe Slam Hold‑Up on Multibillion‑Naira Kolmani Oil Venture
A high‑level delegation from Bauchi and Gombe States, led by the Commissioners of Natural Resources Development—Maiwada Bello (Bauchi) and Sunusi Ahmad Pindiga (Gombe’s Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources)—paid an inspection visit to the Kolmani Well project site and voiced strong concerns over the sluggish pace of work.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The commissioners, clearly dissatisfied with the delay, urged the company handling the project to provide a detailed progress report, including a clear timeline for completion, to enable closer monitoring and timely intervention.
While appreciating the management of NNPCL for engaging openly with the affected states, Bello charged the contractors to accelerate work on the site to prevent further revenue losses and drive economic growth for the region and Nigeria at large.
“Our communities are eager for answers on this critical project,” Bello said. “We are protecting their rights and interests. Every day of delay means lost revenue. Let’s collaborate with all stakeholders to fast‑track this project to completion.”
He further underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in managing the project:
“We must ensure this project is completed promptly and meets the expectations of the people of Bauchi and Gombe. The development of our states depends on it, and we will work hand in hand with the company to address community concerns.”
Also speaking, Gombe State’s Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Sunusi Pindiga, echoed the call for clarity and urgency:
“We need a comprehensive update on this project to understand its exact status. It is a cornerstone of our development plans, and it must be completed on schedule and within budget. Transparency and accountability are non‑negotiable, and the benefits must trickle down to the host communities.”
Arewa PUNCH learned that the delegation also included additional state commissioners, permanent secretaries, petroleum resource directors, traditional leaders from the host communities, and the Rector of Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, Alkaleri.
The Kolmani Integrated Development Project is widely regarded as a critical driver for the economic transformation of both Bauchi and Gombe States.
