No Rift! Presidency Dismisses Claims Of Tinubu Freezing Out ‘Buhari Boys’
According to NIVONEWS, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has firmly denied allegations that the current administration is sidelining loyalists of former President Muhammadu Buhari.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview on the Mic On podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Dare addressed concerns about the perceived exclusion of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc—often referred to as the ‘Buhari boys’—in favour of individuals closely linked to Tinubu, known as the ‘Lagos boys.’
Seun had asked pointedly whether Tinubu had effectively displaced the Buhari-aligned faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC). In response, Dare stated: “When a new government takes office, it is constitutionally empowered to form its own cabinet. That power belongs solely to the President. The fundamental requirement for any appointee is being a Nigerian citizen—not whether you are a Tinubu boy or a Buhari boy.”
According to NIVONEWS, Dare further explained that, as with any leadership role, President Tinubu must rely on trusted allies, many of whom have journeyed with him through his political career since his days as Lagos State governor. “Trust is critical,” he said. “Naturally, leaders surround themselves with people they have worked with over the years.”
When pressed on the claim that Tinubu’s closest allies have taken over strategic economic sectors, Dare insisted that there is no deliberate agenda to marginalize any group within the APC. “Any person who assumes public office takes an oath, not to any president, but to the Nigerian Constitution and to the Nigerian people,” he emphasized.
According to NIVONEWS, Dare’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about internal rifts within the ruling party and accusations that Buhari’s loyalists have been pushed to the sidelines in Tinubu’s administration.
