Justice in Motion: 20 Suspects Remanded for Slaughter of Plateau Wedding Guests

Twenty individuals accused of involvement in the gruesome killing of 13 wedding guests in Mangun, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on June 20, 2025, have been ordered into custody at the Jos correctional facility.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The suspects were arraigned before the court on a four-count charge, including criminal conspiracy, grievous bodily harm, and culpable homicide.

Led by prosecutor Samuel Ikutanwa, the prosecution alleged that the defendants, armed with firearms, cutlasses, machetes, and petrol, launched a violent attack on the victims—relatives and friends travelling from Ungwan Dantsoho in Kaduna State to Qua’an Pan, Plateau State, for a wedding ceremony.

According to the charges, the victims’ 18-seater bus, which was loaded with kolanuts and wedding gifts, broke down during the journey. Despite explaining to local residents that they were heading to Jos for the wedding of one Rabi’a Sani, the group was allegedly ambushed by assailants who set the bus ablaze, resulting in the deaths of 13 passengers.

All 20 accused pleaded not guilty to the charges during their arraignment.

Their lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Garuba Pwul, filed a motion requesting bail for the defendants. However, the application was not considered during the hearing, as Prosecutor Ikutanwa informed the court that he had just been served with the documents.

Justice Boniface Ingyou subsequently adjourned the matter to October 13, 2025, for case management and ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody until then
