This visit follows widespread rumours about Buhari’s health, which were downplayed by his former media aide, Bashir Ahmad. Ahmad acknowledged that the former leader was unwell but clarified that Buhari was already recovering and not in any critical or intensive care situation as some reports had claimed.

According to NIVONEWS, Shettima had been in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he participated in the launch of the Green Legacy Initiative (GLI) at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. From there, sources say, he was directed by President Tinubu to make an unscheduled detour to London on Sunday night.

He reportedly arrived in the UK on Monday morning and proceeded to a yet-to-be-named hospital to personally deliver Tinubu’s message and assess Buhari’s condition. The president is said to have instructed Shettima to offer any necessary support to ensure Buhari’s full recovery.

According to NIVONEWS, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima’s media aide, confirmed the vice president’s London trip but declined to provide details, stating he was not fully briefed on the specifics of the visit.
