This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Dr. Daniel Ndukwe, Chairman of the Planning Committee. Established under the NACA Act of 2006, the National Council on AIDS serves as Nigeria’s highest coordination body for the multi-sectoral HIV response. This seventh session will review the nation’s progress so far and outline a roadmap for future interventions.

NACA Director-General and Council Chair, Dr. Temitope Ilori, underscored the importance of safeguarding Nigeria’s HIV gains amid declining donor commitments.

“As donor landscapes shift, Nigeria must rise to the occasion by securing sustainable access to HIV services,” she said. “This Council provides a unified platform for us to define our path forward.”

The agenda will center on three major thematic areas:

  • advancing the national HIV sustainability agenda in response to global aid changes;

  • strengthening multi-sectoral strategies for sustaining HIV and other development-related diseases; and

  • enhancing sub-national structures and health systems to ensure long-term effectiveness.

Beyond technical discussions, the council will revisit the twelve resolutions adopted during the sixth session and call for policy and implementation memoranda from stakeholders to help shape future policies.

The seventh NCA is also expected to serve as a broader policy convergence point, integrating HIV strategies with efforts against tuberculosis, malaria, reproductive health challenges, and broader health systems reforms
