History Will Judge Them!” – Ighodalo Faults Supreme Court, Alleges Coordinated Betrayal

Published

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the September 2024 Edo State governorship election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has strongly criticised the Supreme Court judgment that upheld Senator Monday Okpebholo’s election victory, insisting that the ruling fell short of delivering genuine justice.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The apex court on Thursday dismissed Ighodalo’s appeal and affirmed Okpebholo’s win, effectively bringing an end to the legal battle.

In a passionate statement issued shortly after the verdict, Ighodalo accepted the finality of the court’s decision but decried its implications, describing the entire electoral process as a “robbery.”

“The Supreme Court has spoken today. While I accept the authority and finality of its judgment, I cannot in good conscience accept it as justice,” he said.

“What took place during the September 2024 governorship election was not a democratic contest. It was a coordinated and deliberate robbery, now tragically legitimised by the highest court in the land.”

He continued: “Though I will not obstruct or undermine the judiciary, no matter how flawed its verdict, I must always summon the courage to speak truth to power. Like many of you, I feel a profound sense of betrayal—not only by those who subverted the process, but also by the very institutions entrusted with safeguarding our democracy.”

“You voted with hope—for competence, for development, and for a brighter future. Yet today, you’re told that your voice doesn’t count, that your mandate can be stolen without consequence. I feel your pain. I share your anger. And I will always remember your courage.”

Despite the court’s ruling, Ighodalo praised his supporters and vowed that the campaign for a better Edo State would persist.

“Though this painful chapter has closed, the larger story of our beloved Edo continues. The fight to reclaim our state’s future is far from over.

“Difficult days may lie ahead. The burden of this illegitimacy will echo far beyond the courtroom. I fear Edo will suffer in the absence of true leadership, through hollow policies and the increasing hardship of her people.”

“But we are not a broken people. We may be bruised, but we are unbowed. Let this be our pledge: we will not retreat, we will not be silenced, and we will never forget.”

Addressing those now in power, Ighodalo offered a sober message: “To those who now hold an undeserved mandate, lead with humility and govern with conscience. History sees what the courts may not—and one day, it will render its own verdict.

Factional Crisis Rocks ADC In Akwa Ibom As Party Splits Deepen.

Published

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
