Dan Dizzy Cries Out: ‘Begging Everywhere!’ – Nigeria’s Economic Woes Hit the Streets

In a tweet posted on Monday, the 30-year-old Port Harcourt-born artist expressed frustration at being constantly approached for money, even by individuals who are gainfully employed.
DanDizzy lamented that begging is no longer limited to the unemployed, noting that workers such as receptionists, security guards, waiters, and even their supervisors now regularly plead for financial assistance — a reflection, he said, of the deepening economic hardship in Nigeria.
According to him, rising inflation and stagnant wages have rendered most salaries insufficient, pushing more Nigerians into desperation.
“We’ve never had begging this bad in Nigeria. People are literally begging on every corner — and not just the unemployed. Receptionists, security men, waitresses, even their supervisors join in. People are poor, and salaries can’t sustain them. God, abeg! If you visit two places in Nigeria and nobody begs you for money, then I haven’t blown yet. Even at the airport, they’re begging,” he tweeted.
His comments come amid growing public outcry over the worsening cost of living and widespread poverty plaguing many citizens.
Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan, also known as Madrina, reignited her longstanding feud with former label boss Jude Okoye.
In a post shared via Instagram on Monday, Cynthia accused Jude of speaking ill of her behind the scenes while refusing to engage with her directly. She expressed disappointment over failed efforts to resolve their differences in person and called him out for what she described as evasive behaviour over past contractual and financial issues.
