A significant political realignment has taken place in Ogbadibo Local Government Area, as the entire structure of the Labour Party (LP) has officially dissolved and merged with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The announcement was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, July 5, 2025. The move marks a strategic shift in the local political landscape, with prominent LP leaders, members, and grassroots supporters pledging full allegiance to the ADC.

Party insiders revealed that the decision followed weeks of consultations and careful evaluation of the nation’s political and economic climate. According to a communiqué issued after the meeting, the mass defection was described as a “bold and strategic decision” driven by a collective determination to rescue Nigeria from ongoing hardship and the failures of the APC-led federal government.

“This merger reflects our deep reflection and unified resolve. We believe the ADC represents a more transparent, people-focused, and progressive political alternative,” one of the stakeholders stated.

The meeting drew participation from former LP ward executives, youth leaders, women coordinators, and community mobilisers from across Ogbadibo LGA. At the end of the session, all attendees unanimously declared their total commitment to the African Democratic Congress going forward.

Confirming the development, Agada Onu, Director of New Media and Strategic Communication to Hon. Domfrank Ochigbo, underscored the significance of the merger.

“This courageous and strategic move is rooted in our shared resolve to liberate the country from the failed leadership and deepening hardship imposed by the APC administration,” Onu said.

He added that the merger aims to establish a more robust political foundation focused on the needs of the people, while promoting genuine democratic values both locally and nationally.
