2027 Game On: Tinubu, Four APC Governors Get Resounding South-South Endorsement

The endorsement came during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Benin City, Edo State. In a communiqué presented after the meeting, the APC Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, applauded President Tinubu for his commitment to national renewal and the specific attention given to the South-South region.

“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his far-reaching reforms and developmental policies that are repositioning Nigeria for greatness,” the statement read. “His extraordinary support for the South-South is evident in the emergence of a Senate President from the region and landmark infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.”

The stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Senate President Godswill Akpabio, praising his leadership for fostering unity in the region and reinforcing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The communiqué further welcomed recent political realignments, particularly the defection of key leaders and supporters from Delta and Akwa Ibom States to the APC. The group hailed this as a “patriotic and courageous decision” in support of national progress.

In a rallying call, the stakeholders urged the remaining opposition-led states—Bayelsa and Rivers—to join the “progressive fold” for the good of the region and the country at large.

“We call on the governors of Bayelsa and Rivers States and their supporters to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda and align with the APC’s forward-moving vision,” the statement added.

On state-level governance, the meeting also endorsed APC governors from Edo, Cross River, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States for re-election in 2027, citing their impressive strides in governance and development.

“We hereby pass a vote of confidence on our South-South governors for their exceptional leadership. We adopt them as our sole candidates for the 2027 elections in their respective states and urge voters to give them a renewed mandate,” the communique declared.

The gathering also acknowledged the loyalty and dedication of APC members in the region, including elected senators, House of Representatives members, ministers, agency heads, and political appointees, for their unwavering support of the Tinubu administration.

In its final resolution, the South-South APC bloc declared its unflinching support for Tinubu’s re-election, emphasizing that his policies have laid the foundation for long-term national transformation.

Dignitaries at the event included Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo; Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno; former Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva; Senator Adams Oshiomhole; Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Abubakar Momoh; Acting APC National Chairman, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori; and state APC chairmen from across the region.
