The call to join the ADC was made by the party’s state chairman, Kabiru Garba, during a press conference in Gusau on Friday. Garba urged Governor Lawal to dump the PDP and align with the ADC “for the progress of Zamfara and Nigeria at large.”

“If Governor Dauda Lawal truly wants to retain his seat in 2027, he should consider leaving the PDP and joining the ADC,” Garba asserted.

In response, the governor’s Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mustafa Kaura, told Punch that Lawal had no intention of accepting the offer.

“Governor Dauda Lawal will not honour the ADC’s invitation. He has no plans to leave the PDP and remains fully committed to the party’s success,” Kaura stated.

Reacting to speculations about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar possibly joining the ADC, Kaura maintained that such a move would have no bearing on Governor Lawal’s political stance.

“The Governor has repeatedly said he will not leave the PDP, no matter the pressure. He is a lifelong PDP loyalist and remains focused on delivering good governance under the party’s banner,” Kaura added.
