Speaking in Ogbomoso at the residence of a party leader, Chief Ayoade Adeseun, Adelabu explained that the meeting was part of a broader engagement across the state’s geopolitical zones. He reassured party members that the APC would not impose any candidate for the 2027 elections.

“I’m fully prepared for this race,” Adelabu said. “I want to demonstrate my ability to compete fairly and emerge victorious.”

He appealed to aggrieved party members for reconciliation, stressing that the party’s primary focus should be reclaiming power in the state come 2027.

“I’m here to formally declare my intention to run for governor of Oyo State in 2027,” he said. “This is the time to put to use the lessons I’ve learned from my past two outings.”

Adelabu added that while he is not opposed to candidates from other zones, he believes “God’s time is the best.” He acknowledged the strategic importance of Ogbomoso in state elections and expressed delight that all party factions in the area had united.

He also urged the people of the zone to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, stating, “This is the Yoruba’s turn to complete two terms. Tinubu’s re-election will bring more dividends of democracy to Nigeria.”

In Oyo town, Adelabu reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive administration if elected. “Everyone will have a voice in governance. No one will be sidelined,” he assured.

He emphasized that no aspirant would be imposed on the party, saying, “I want to prove my capacity through hard work, not favoritism. I want the people to judge me by merit.”

Describing Oyo as a second home, he noted that the support he has received from the zone in the past remains strong. “Oyo is symbolic, historical, and vital to the progress of our state. It deserves better treatment,” he said.

In their remarks, Chief Adeseun and Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, son of the late former governor, called for unity among APC members, urging them to work together to secure victory in 2027.
