‘Army’ of One: Impostor Soldier Busted for Robbing Innocent Osun Residents

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Modakeke, Osun State, has ordered the remand of a 38-year-old man, Adesina Peter, at the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre over allegations of theft, impersonation, and unlawful possession of military uniform.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps arrested Adesina Peter after he allegedly posed as a Nigerian Army officer.

Peter was reportedly dressed in a military camouflage uniform while engaging in various criminal acts, including robbing unsuspecting residents by pretending to be a soldier.

His most recent offense was said to have taken place in the Modakeke area, where he allegedly broke into the home of one Shola Michael and stole his motorcycle.He allegedly posed as a military officer, but his charade came to an end when alert members of the community grew suspicious of his behavior. Acting swiftly, the residents apprehended him and promptly notified operatives of the Amotekun Corps.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crimes.

Presiding Magistrate Faith Idowu, according to a statement issued by Amotekun Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu, ordered the remand of the accused at the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre.

The case has been adjourned until July 28, 2025, for mention.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) issued the warning in a notice released to broadcasters on Friday, citing rising cases of unprofessional conduct on air.

The commission directed stations such as Arise Television, Channels TV, and others to strictly comply with provisions of the Broadcasting Code, especially on fairness, accuracy, balance, hate speech, and respect for constitutional institutions.

NBC stressed that broadcasters must maintain professionalism when covering sensitive issues such as politics, communal disputes, and conflict situations.
