This development was made public in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, on behalf of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatunbosun.

According to Olatunbosun, the decision to postpone the event was made to ensure the carnival and exhibition meet global standards, run seamlessly, and deliver the enriching cultural experience anticipated by both residents and guests. He assured that a new date will be announced soon, with all stakeholders and the general public duly informed.

Reaffirming the Makinde administration’s dedication to preserving and promoting culture and tourism, Olatunbosun emphasized that these sectors are key pillars in the Omituntun 2.0 Roadmap for Sustainable Development. He noted that tourism plays a significant role in economic growth, employment generation, and increasing internally generated revenue.

Highlighting the administration’s achievements, he listed several successful events hosted by the state, such as the World Twins Festival, World Egungun Festival, World Tourism Day, Iyake International Festival, Oyo State International Tourism Summit, and the Aso-Ofi Festival. These events, he said, have enhanced the local economy, empowered communities, and attracted national and international attention.

Particularly, the Aso-Ofi Festival has inspired a state-backed policy encouraging civil and public servants to adopt Aso-Ofi in their dress code—reviving indigenous textile production and reinforcing Oyo’s image as the “Manchester of Indigenous Textile Production.”

The Adire Carnival and Exhibition, organised in partnership with BIZRAIT and Adire Odua, was envisioned to further showcase indigenous textile artistry. However, in pursuit of excellence and cultural pride, the government has opted to delay the event to ensure its success.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to all partners, participants, and the public for their patience and continued support, assuring that the upcoming rescheduled event will be even more impactful.
