Obi made this declaration during an address to his supporters in a video that went viral on social media last Saturday.

When asked about his party affiliation for the 2027 election, Obi stated, “I will continue to contest on the Labour Party platform. I am a member of the Labour Party.”

The former governor of Anambra State also attributed the ongoing crises within political parties to interference by the Nigerian government.

Responding to concerns about his perceived distance from party conflicts, Obi said, “The challenges facing the Labour Party and the PDP are caused by the government. Quote me anywhere.”

He recalled an earlier intervention during former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s administration when he personally approached the president to resolve internal party conflicts.

“Back then, I went to President Yar’Adua, who called the INEC chairman, Professor Maurice Iwu, and insisted there should be no trouble within any political party. We managed to resolve our issues then. But today, every party faces internal crises, and this is deliberate,” Obi explained.

He emphasized that a functioning democracy requires strong opposition parties and pledged to address these structural problems if given the opportunity.

Obi also urged Nigerians to safeguard their votes, noting that while party agents may be bribed to manipulate results, voters hold ultimate responsibility for ensuring their votes count.

He encouraged youths and the electorate not to be disheartened by the resistance positive change faces from those benefiting from the status quo.

Furthermore, Obi proposed setting a retirement age for politicians, mentioning that he would be 65 by the 2027 elections and does not wish to contest public office into his 70s.

2027: Gov Sule Sparks Buzz, Reveals Who He Wants As Nasarawa’s Next Governor.

Published

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has openly backed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred governorship candidate under the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sule made this known during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, a move seen as an early signal of political succession plans in the state.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the 10th Senate, recently dumped the Social Democratic Party for the APC, further fuelling speculations about his governorship ambition.

The governor also faulted public officials who parade routine duties like salary payments, road construction and provision of basic amenities as landmark achievements.

“Kwankwaso Holds Talks With Obi, Amaechi, PDP & Top Opposition Ahead Of 2027”.

Speaking on Wednesday at the 59th inaugural lecture of Nasarawa State University, Sule said governance should go beyond basic responsibilities and focus on policies that directly improve people’s lives.

According to him, leaders must think beyond conventional projects and pursue solutions that bring lasting impact to citizens.

Using his administration as an example, Sule recalled how frequent fire outbreaks at a major market used to force the government into repeated relief payouts to traders.

He said rather than continuing temporary interventions, his government chose to build a modern market to permanently tackle the problem, adding that there has been no report of another fire incident since the reconstruction.

Sule also highlighted the construction of a bridge in Auta near Keffi, which he said has greatly reduced years of devastating flooding in the area.

At the event, Ike Neliaku praised Sule’s development strides, especially road and infrastructure projects across key parts of the state.

Also speaking, Emmanuel Dandaura stressed the need for institutions to align communication with performance, warning that failure to do so could erode public trust.
