Lawyer Alleges EFCC Delays in Granting Bail to VeryDarkMan
Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, remains in EFCC custody despite being granted administrative bail, according to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. The EFCC confirmed on Tuesday that Otse was arrested following multiple petitions alleging serious financial misconduct and after he failed to respond to several official summons.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In its statement, the EFCC emphasized that Otse’s arrest was lawful and unrelated to his criticisms of the agency on social media. They affirmed that a court-approved remand was obtained and that he would be released once bail conditions are met.
However, Adeyanju criticized the commission’s delay, stating that his legal team had not been provided with the actual bail documents, despite several attempts since Monday. He described the EFCC’s actions as “social media bail” and claimed efforts to process his client’s release were being frustrated.
The situation has triggered widespread backlash, with protests erupting at GTBank headquarters in Abuja and public figures, including 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, joining calls for his release.
The EFCC urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculations while investigations continue, promising to press formal charges once the probe concludes.
