“I Owe You No Proof”—Senator Natasha Fires Back at Agbakoba Over Akpabio Allegation
Suspended Senator for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has issued a stern response to Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, who recently demanded proof of her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a letter dated April 30 and directed to Agbakoba’s chambers, Akpoti-Uduaghan reiterated her commitment to pursuing her petition in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory. She emphasized that her claims reflect the factual events as experienced and declared that she would present her case through proper judicial channels, not the media or informal demands.
Responding to Agbakoba’s request for a retraction and immediate presentation of evidence, the senator argued that such a demand disregards standard legal procedures and international norms on handling sexual harassment cases. She stressed that only a court is authorized to assess evidence and that forcing premature disclosure misrepresents how justice should function.
Akpoti-Uduaghan criticized Agbakoba’s approach as one that trivializes a serious global issue and warned against attempts to pressure her outside the framework of the law. She also took exception to what she described as a coordinated media strategy designed to delegitimize her claims, warning it could compromise the integrity of court proceedings.
“The matter must follow legal procedure, not media spin,” she wrote. “A litigant cannot seek justice in court while undermining it through public commentary.”
Agbakoba had previously questioned inconsistencies in her statements and urged her to withdraw the claims due to a perceived lack of supporting evidence.
With both parties now firmly entrenched in legal arguments, attention shifts to the FCT High Court, where the veracity of the allegations will be tested.
