Taking to his official Facebook page, Governor Lawal addressed the circulating rumours, stating clearly that he remains a committed member of the PDP. He dismissed the claims as baseless and designed to distract his administration from its ongoing efforts to serve the people of Zamfara State effectively.

“I am Dauda Lawal, a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Disregard the fake news from detractors determined to distract us from the RESCUE MISSION we have embarked on,” his post read.

Lawal reiterated that his focus is on fulfilling the mandate given to him by the citizens, emphasizing that political distractions will not derail his administration’s agenda.

This statement comes amid widespread media reports alleging that the governor was considering defecting to the APC.

In a separate development, Nigerian troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully neutralized Kachalla Bello Kaura, a notorious bandit leader, during a tactical operation in Goburawar Dawan Jiya village, Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to reports from Zagazola Makama, the operation formed part of a week-long offensive that culminated in the death of Kaura and several of his loyalists during a coordinated raid on their camp.

Kaura was known for his brutal activities across Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto States, and was believed to be affiliated with the terror group Ansaruddin. He reportedly received training in the deployment of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and had enabled the group’s presence in the Bagega Forest and Gando Game Reserve.

Born in Sunke village, Kaura was the younger brother of the late Kachalla Alhaji Shadari, a notorious criminal figure eliminated in 2023. After Shadari’s death, Kaura assumed control of the group, continuing violent raids in Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi LGAs, and cross-border attacks in neighboring states.

Security sources confirmed that Kaura’s elimination marks a critical victory in the fight against terrorism in the region. Authorities have pledged to sustain the pressure on bandit networks and called on residents to provide credible intelligence to support military operations.
