Governor Adeleke Orders Investigation Into Arson Attack on Ilesa High Court
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly condemned the torching of the Ilesa High Court 2, describing the act as a “heinous attack on the judicial arm of government.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The fire, which occurred overnight and was allegedly set by unknown individuals, caused significant damage to the building and destroyed crucial legal documents and case files.
According to Nivo News, although the state fire service responded to the scene, they were unable to prevent the extensive destruction. Initial reports suggest that several files related to ongoing high-profile cases were lost in the blaze.
In response, Governor Adeleke has directed all relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. He also ordered immediate reinforcement of security across all court buildings in the state to prevent similar occurrences.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke instructed the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to collaborate with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to commence urgent reconstruction of the damaged court facility.
The governor emphasized that the attack not only endangers the judiciary but also threatens the very fabric of democracy. “The judiciary is a critical pillar of our democracy. We must protect and support it, not undermine it through violence and destruction,” he said.
Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring justice, security, and the rule of law in Osun State.
