Real Madrid assistant coach, Davide Ancelotti, has explained that Kylian Mbappe’s red card during their LaLiga match against Alaves was the result of repeated fouls he had endured. Mbappe was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge in the first half of Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory on Sunday. The only goal of the game came in the 34th minute from a brilliant strike by Eduardo Camavinga. However, just four minutes later, Mbappe was sent off after a VAR review for a high tackle on Alaves’ Antonio Blanco.

Alaves also ended the match with 10 men after Vinícius Júnior was fouled by defender Manu Sánchez. Ancelotti acknowledged that Mbappe, known for not being a violent player, had made a mistake and was aware of his actions.

“Mbappe isn’t a violent person; he’s apologized and is aware of his error,” Ancelotti said. “The red card was a result of a clear challenge. The fouls committed against him led to that reaction. While I’m not justifying it, that’s the sequence of events.”
