Afam Josiah Osigwe, the NBA president, expressed deep concern about the rise in mob justice and vigilante violence in Nigeria. In his statement, Osigwe emphasized that no one, regardless of the crime they are accused of, should be subjected to mob violence. He called for a thorough investigation into the incident, stressing that justice must prevail and that those responsible for the killings should face the full force of the law.
The NBA leader highlighted the dangers posed by vigilante justice, which undermines the criminal justice system and promotes lawlessness. He urged law enforcement agencies to act decisively to ensure such crimes are punished, warning that allowing such actions to continue would erode Nigeria’s legal framework.
Osigwe also extended his condolences to the families of the victims, mourning their tragic loss, and reaffirmed the NBA’s commitment to promoting justice and the rule of law in Nigeria.
This incident has sparked renewed concerns over the growing prevalence of vigilante violence in the country and calls for immediate reforms in law enforcement to prevent further occurrences.
