Obasa Must Step Down If He Can’t Attend House Sessions – APC Chieftain To Sanwo-Olu
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babatunde Bank-Anthony, has called on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to address the escalating leadership crisis in the state’s House of Assembly.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
His remarks follow the recent turmoil in the Assembly, where security operatives, including the police and Department of State Services (DSS), barred lawmakers from entering the chambers on Monday. After hours of confrontation, the legislators were eventually granted access, with Speaker Mojisola Meranda presiding over the plenary session in Alausa, Lagos.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Bank-Anthony emphasized the need for Sanwo-Olu to intervene.
“I expect the governor to speak on this matter. He is the chief executive of Lagos State and cannot ignore what transpired yesterday. The Assembly is responsible for making the laws he governs with, and he must address the situation appropriately,” he stated.
Bank-Anthony also urged President Bola Tinubu to focus on pressing national concerns rather than getting involved in the Lagos Assembly dispute. He suggested that Tinubu may be avoiding intervention to prevent any perception of bias.
“After 26 years of democracy in Lagos, do you still want to depend on your mother’s breast for sustenance? Let the man be—he has bigger issues to handle,” he remarked.
Additionally, the APC chieftain criticized former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa for challenging his removal in court, arguing that he should step down if he cannot return as a member.
“If Obasa cannot return to the House as a regular member, he should resign. After 20 years in the Assembly, it’s time to give someone else a chance,” Bank-Anthony added.
The leadership crisis erupted after lawmakers ousted Obasa over fraud allegations and elected Mojisola Meranda as his replacement.

Victor Osimhen Wins More Admiration As Batrakov Praises His Fighting Spirit And Kindness.
Galatasaray midfielder Aleksey Batrakov has praised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for his relentless desire to win, describing him as a perfectionist who prioritises team success over personal glory.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Batrakov recalled his first training session with the Turkish champions, during which a mini-tournament among the players gave him an insight into Osimhen’s highly competitive nature.
“Osimhen is a perfectionist. Top-notch in every sense. It was my first training session; we held a mini tournament among ourselves, and that’s where I understood what kind of perfectionist he is, how he always wants to win,” Batrakov said.
The Russian midfielder also highlighted Osimhen’s generosity and willingness to share the spotlight, recalling an incident during a penalty shootout after a match ended 2-2.
“He will do anything to win. The match ended 2-2 and went to penalties. Osimhen gave me the final penalty; he said, ‘you take it.’ I scored, and he came running to me from the other end of the field to join in my celebration. It was an incredible gesture,” he added.
Osimhen had recently faced criticism from Turkish media outlets and football pundits after going three consecutive matches without scoring against Kasımpaşa, Barcelona and Gençlerbirliği following his return from a groin injury.
However, the 27-year-old dismissed suggestions that the criticism had affected his confidence, insisting that no one could dictate how he played.
The Super Eagles forward responded on October 21 by scoring in Galatasaray’s 4-2 away victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League, ending his goal drought in the competition.
The strike also took his European competition goal tally for the Turkish club to 14.
Osimhen will have another opportunity to demonstrate his competitive drive when Galatasaray face fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Süper Lig on Monday.

Breaking: Andre Onana Hospitalised After Terrifying Three-Car Crash In Turkey.
Trabzonspor goalkeeper André Onana was taken to hospital following a three-car road accident in Turkey on Thursday night but escaped serious injuries.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
News gathered that the Cameroon international was travelling along Yomra Road near Trabzon when the incident occurred, just hours after helping his team secure a 2-0 victory over Scottish side Hearts in the UEFA Conference League.
According to reports, another vehicle crashed into the rear of Onana’s £100,000 Hongqi E-HS9 SUV, pushing it into the car in front and triggering a chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, while images from the incident showed significant damage to the goalkeeper’s vehicle.
Onana was subsequently taken to hospital for medical examinations. However, doctors later cleared him after confirming that he had escaped serious injuries.
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed the accident and reassured supporters about the goalkeeper’s condition.
The incident cut short what had otherwise been a successful evening for Onana, who had played a key role in Trabzonspor’s victory, keeping a clean sheet against Hearts.
The 30-year-old joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan from Manchester United after losing his place in the team at Old Trafford.
His move to Turkey has provided the former Ajax and Inter Milan goalkeeper with an opportunity to secure regular playing time and rebuild his confidence after struggling to maintain consistent form in the Premier League.

Tottenham Humiliate Chelsea At Stamford Bridge As Xabi Alonso Accepts Blame For Defeat.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has admitted that his team fell short of expectations following a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Blues struggled to make their scoring opportunities count at Stamford Bridge, with Tottenham goalkeeper Antonín Kinský producing several crucial saves to keep the hosts at bay.
Chelsea’s chances of securing a positive result took a major hit in the second half when goalkeeper Mike Penders scored an own goal to give Tottenham the lead. The situation worsened for the home side when Cole Palmer was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Mathys Tel then put the result beyond doubt with a late second goal, condemning Chelsea to defeat despite their recent league victories over Bournemouth and Everton.
Reacting after the match, Alonso accepted responsibility for the disappointing outcome and stressed that every member of the squad must take accountability for the performance.
“We all take the blame for the result and for the performance,” Alonso said. “Today we were not at our best. I felt that in the second half, the game was even and could have gone either way. Once we conceded that first goal, and then with the red card, it was difficult.”
The Spanish manager maintained that the encounter had been evenly contested before Penders’ own goal shifted the momentum in Tottenham’s favour.
“In the second half, it was tight, with some half-chances for them and half-chances for us. It was about taking a moment, and once we conceded the first goal, it conceded everything,” he added.
“Then, when we wanted to have a reaction, we got the red card. Then it went the other way.”
Alonso urged his players to learn from the setback and work towards delivering better performances in their upcoming fixtures.
“We can do better. It’s one to reflect on after this big game against a good opponent. And as for the performance, it’s one we must improve,” he said.
