Galatasaray midfielder Aleksey Batrakov has praised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for his relentless desire to win, describing him as a perfectionist who prioritises team success over personal glory.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Batrakov recalled his first training session with the Turkish champions, during which a mini-tournament among the players gave him an insight into Osimhen’s highly competitive nature.
“Osimhen is a perfectionist. Top-notch in every sense. It was my first training session; we held a mini tournament among ourselves, and that’s where I understood what kind of perfectionist he is, how he always wants to win,” Batrakov said.
The Russian midfielder also highlighted Osimhen’s generosity and willingness to share the spotlight, recalling an incident during a penalty shootout after a match ended 2-2.
“He will do anything to win. The match ended 2-2 and went to penalties. Osimhen gave me the final penalty; he said, ‘you take it.’ I scored, and he came running to me from the other end of the field to join in my celebration. It was an incredible gesture,” he added.
Osimhen had recently faced criticism from Turkish media outlets and football pundits after going three consecutive matches without scoring against Kasımpaşa, Barcelona and Gençlerbirliği following his return from a groin injury.
However, the 27-year-old dismissed suggestions that the criticism had affected his confidence, insisting that no one could dictate how he played.
The Super Eagles forward responded on October 21 by scoring in Galatasaray’s 4-2 away victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League, ending his goal drought in the competition.
The strike also took his European competition goal tally for the Turkish club to 14.
Osimhen will have another opportunity to demonstrate his competitive drive when Galatasaray face fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Süper Lig on Monday.

‘Don’t Rush Into Marriage!’ – Ruth Kadiri Warns Young Couples Against Societal Pressure
Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has advised young couples to avoid spending excessively on wedding ceremonies, warning that elaborate celebrations can place unnecessary pressure on marriages.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
News reports that the mother of two shared her advice in a video posted on her Instagram page, where she discussed the mental and emotional challenges couples may face when preparing for marriage.
Kadiri explained that while some people enjoy dating and spending time with their partners, they begin to develop fears about marriage when confronted with the responsibilities, expectations and pressures associated with it.
According to the actress, expensive wedding ceremonies can add to these anxieties and make the transition into married life more difficult for couples.
She said, “I do think that big weddings put pressure on couples; it puts pressure on the marriage itself. Big weddings, it puts pressure on people, and they don’t seem to have realised that. They don’t seem to have realised that because I’m not just talking about spiritually or what; I’m talking about mentally.
“Do you know that people have a phobia, a fear? People naturally have a fear of what marriage is. But they could date, they will date this girl, love her, be with her every day, every day, every day and then after this whole damn ceremony, have you asked yourself what changed? Married, that wedding is part of what changed.”
The actress encouraged young couples to embrace simpler wedding arrangements, suggesting that they could fulfil traditional marriage requirements, pay the bride price, conduct a court wedding and hold a modest celebration with close family and friends.
She argued that couples should prioritise their relationship and future together rather than feel compelled to organise expensive ceremonies to satisfy societal expectations.
Kadiri also observed that some couples only begin to fully appreciate the reality of marriage months after their wedding celebrations have ended.
Reflecting on her own experience, she said she believed avoiding excessive wedding pressure had contributed to her successful marriage, which she said had lasted about seven years.
She added that she had seen couples separate only two months after getting married, warning young people against allowing societal expectations to dictate their decisions.
The actress further criticised the pressure Nigerian society places on couples to organise engagement ceremonies, traditional weddings, white weddings and court weddings, noting that some people wrongly believe their marriages will fail if they do not complete every stage.
Kadiri also raised concerns about the potential risks of inviting people into private family affairs, cautioning couples against exposing themselves to unnecessary scrutiny.
Beyond marriage, she urged the younger generation to challenge other societal expectations, particularly the pressure parents place on their children to succeed financially and bring money home.
She maintained that young Nigerians need to rethink these expectations and make choices that prioritise their emotional well-being and long-term happiness.

‘Nigerians Are Hard To Please’ – Tacha Sends Strong Message To BBNaija Organizers
Reality TV star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged the organisers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) to take a break from the show, rethink their strategy and introduce fresh ideas to attract viewers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
News reports that Tacha believes the reality television programme needs a new approach to remain relevant amid changes in how Nigerians consume entertainment, particularly the growing influence of social media.
The former BBNaija housemate made the remarks during an interview on Arise 360, where she reflected on the show’s popularity and the changing entertainment landscape.
According to Tacha, BBNaija rose to prominence at a time when social media did not have the level of influence it enjoys today. She noted that online platforms have since become major sources of entertainment, forcing traditional television programmes to find innovative ways to retain audience interest.
She argued that viewers now have access to a wide range of content on social media, making it increasingly important for television shows to offer something different and exciting.
Tacha said, “I think they need to take a break, re-strategise and just come up with something because we are really at an era where everything happens on social media.
“You don’t want us watching housemates in the house, meanwhile P-Square is giving us part seven of his family issues… we have come to a point where everyone is so comfortable with social media right now.
“You also give Nigerians a chance to miss you. They need to cook, like they need to try to do something different which will be much more mind-blowing and more interesting to Nigerians because Nigerians are hard to please.”

‘We Have Overwhelming Evidence’ – Ex-Defence Intelligence Chief Makes Explosive Terrorism Sponsorship Claim.
Retired Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, a former Commandant of the Defence Intelligence College, has accused some Nigerian government officials of sponsoring terrorism, alleging that individuals entrusted with protecting citizens are contributing to the country’s insecurity.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
News reports that Olawunmi made the allegation during an interview with media personality and political scientist Edmund Obilo.
The retired naval officer, who also served as Deputy Director of Defence Administration at the Defence Headquarters, claimed that some public officials had become involved in activities that threaten national security instead of fulfilling their responsibility to protect Nigerians.
Olawunmi alleged that certain government officials were backing terrorist activities in the country, raising questions about how individuals elected or appointed to safeguard citizens could allegedly become involved in acts that undermine national stability.
He said, “The person elected to serve the welfare and security of his or her people accepts to become a source of instability to the land he’s meant to protect. Is that a point you are making?
“And that’s what is going on. I mean, you see the issue of terrorism in Nigeria. If you want us to go there, who are the people sponsoring terrorism in Nigeria? They are your officials. So how did they get to that point that they turn rogue against their citizen?”
The former defence intelligence chief further claimed that there was overwhelming evidence implicating some high-ranking political officeholders in the alleged sponsorship of terrorism.
He added, “Can you imagine that you are a senator, you are a governor, you are a minister, and we have evidence, overwhelming evidence, that you are sponsoring terrorism against your country. How do you imagine that? Government officials sponsoring terrorism against Nigeria. And the state is aware.”
However, the allegations presented in the interview were not accompanied by specific names or supporting evidence in the supplied account.
